Traveling with house ducks

I went away with mine for the fist time this weekend (3 days). Used an old XL dog crate for housing, smaller version bowls (dog bowls) & puppy pads (I use these regularly). The car ride was not bad, 2 hours. She rode in the car freely, first 5 minutes were interesting. I was in the passenger seat, she was on the floor with her baby (a moose dog toy). I ended up putting a sheet in the glove box to make a curtain, she was obsessed with the tree tops flying by. She finally settled down after 20 minutes, tucked her bill in her wings & slept with one eye open. LOL. I didn't take any pictures but I do have one of her on her the couch napping.

She is a call duck, Peep. She is a good flyer now so I will be playing around with a harness soon. I also have a diaper on its way. She follows me from room to room. Next time we will do both duck & dog in the car! Fingers crossed.

Hoping to do something similar with my two 4 month old welsh soon. The ride is double that tho!
Has she ridden in the car before? Any tips on travel or harnesses? Thanks!

I took two trips with her over the summer, she is a call so she is pint sized....very easy travelling. I was the passenger for all but one trip home, as a passenger I did not contain her, she either sat on my feet (she has a diaper), her stuffed moose or on my lap. For the trip home alone I put her in the dog crate (with her moose & puppy pads, no food or water), I was worried she might want to sit on me (or the dog, they cuddle) & then I would have a flying duck in the truck (plus the dog would have panicked)....I wanted to prevent any catastrophes. Hope this helps! She was an inside duck so very attached to me, that helped with the seating arrangement. She has been accepted by the big girls now, however with our single digit temps I think she wants in again!

We diapered them and took them in a large dog carrier for their first ride tonight! All went well! So proud of them for doing so well and looking out the windows!

I'd actually like to know this too!
The wife and I will be going out of the country for a week or so early next year,but have no one who can look after our little man. Are there places that can board ducks?

There are some folks who pack the ducks up, also, and make it a family road trip - there are pet friendly motels.

True but probably not for poultry You might want to confirm it is acceptable when booking your room. Speaking as a motel owner and bird lover.
