My eggs will hatch during our vacation.we will be about an hour away.I have an invertor to power the incubator during the trip, but would the movement of the car hurt the eggs? It would be the last 4 days.has anyone done this and what were your results?

Well, since you are supposed to lock down for the last couple of days and then leave the chicks in the incubator for a day, can't you just close up the incubator and leave it?

How much longer are you supposed to be gone after the hatch date? Do you have a friend or relative that could go over and move the chicks to the brooder?

I don't know how much disturbance it would be to the eggs to go on a one hour car journey. I would consider it a risk. Will you even have a brooder available where you are going?

Personally, I would leave the incubator at home and then make the drive home to pick up the hatched chicks if I didn't have anybody to look after them.

Either way, please come back after the hatch, tell us what you decided to do, and how it worked out. This sounds like a good learning situation for all of us.

Wouldn't being in a vehicle throw off the heat/humidity with the sun coming through the windows? I mean the instructions with incubators say to keep OUT of sunlight, like windows, doors, etc and wouldn't the incubator get too hot in the car if you had to stop somewhere?? If you ran the air in the car, wouldn't that affect the temp of the bator??

I think I would try to get someone to come to my home to bator sit and not risk all that you have arleady put into it. Just my opinion.

Well, it would only be in the car for an hour so heat/ humidity wouldn't be factors.I was thinking I would just drive back to add the extra water and remove the turner.we will be with family so I don't have anyone avail to check on things.has anyone seen the add that has the man putting the incubator in the car? I am sure its not for everyday, but I thought someone might have had to move their eggs for one reason or another.these are my Yokohama eggs and I have really wanted some of these so I really don't want to take chances.
