Hi ........ last week I lost a 12 week old Cochin .... I treated the other birds with Corid ...... today is day 5. Four of the girls are 21 weeks old and the other 4 are 13 weeks old. Should I start giving them vitamins now? Or just put ACV in their water. I wasn't sure what to do as a follow up to this treatment? One of my 21 week olds has just started laying eggs ....... I probably should throw those away? Also, should I treat the soil with anything to help prevent this from happening again? Seeing Lilly deteriorate so quickly was heartbreaking and I want to prevent this as much as possible from happening again.

Start them on poly-vi-sol for babies and put out real yogurt and use Braggs organic ACV with the mother on their feed. Don't eat the eggs for at least 72 hrs. That is three times the stated withdrawal from the Corid website for veal slaughter so it should be fine. Although it should be noted that there is no stated withdrawal time for laying hens in the U.S. And many have eaten the eggs without issues.

Thanks Jim ......... I appreciate the response. The poly-vi-sol .......do I put this in the waterer? Or do I put this in the waterer along with the ACV? I'm sorry to sound so ignorant.

Unless you have a lot of chickens it is easier to just use a dropped to give the poly. I mix the ACV with their water. Or you could try the fermented feed regime. Search the site there is a huge thread on how to do it.
