After reading numerous articles here about treatment for bumblefoot I tried it on my largest RIR Penny.
I soaked her foot in Epsom salt and while she was soaking, very calmly I might add, I used a soft toothbrush to clean up her feet. After cleaning everything with betadine solution I was able to pull the black dot off her foot very easily but nothing besides a little pus came out with a few little stringy things. It bled a little but not bad. I did not have to cut it.
I continued to pick at it a little with tiny forceps and tweezers but didn't get much. Het pad was very soft but she does have 2 small balls on the top of her foot between her toes.
I wiped her foot again in betadine and
I took a small pad and put Neosporin on it and then wrapped her foot with lime green vet wrap. 😆
She is doing great today. Later I will change the bandage.
Is there anything I should do to the little balls on the top of her feet?? Anything else for treatment? Does she need antibiotics???
I have Ericlor powder antibiotic but I don't know if that is appropriate nor can I figure out a single dose.
Thanks for any imput!!

Do you have any pictures of the foot on top and bottom? Did you squeeze a whole lot to get the pus out? Sometimes the top of the foot needs to be lanced as well. I might watch it for a couple of days. When I have seen the swollen area on top and between the toes, one time I did get some liquid pus out, and the other time I didn’t. Here is a good article about bumblefoot treatment:

I will get pictures when I change her bandage. I had read this article and followed it pretty closely. I will lance those if it looks necessary.
A very small amount of pus did come out when I pulled/lifted the scab off and then I pressed and massaged but got no more. The tiny hemostats were helpful grabbing the few stringy things that were there.
Her other foot had somewhat of a scab too and it came off easily but no hole or swelling or anything. It looked like it healed already and theres no lumps anywhere.
I thank you so much for your responses.

Here is what Pennys foot looks like today. The balls on top of her toes look way smaller but the pad of her foot looks puffy. This is before I tried to reopen it. The wound has closed so I tried to reopen it but got nothing. It is soft and pliable bot hard or fat like its full of pus. But its way bigger than her other foot pad. Maybe I didn't go, cut, deep enough to reach the infected section???
