Just noticed yesterday that my 4 chickens have mites/ticks on their combs and wattles. gutted and sprayed the coop and dusted the flock (though with nowhere near enough dust, just seen online how to do it properly so will be treating again) however all the products say keep away from the eys etc so my question is.

HOw to treat ticks/mites which are quite close to the eyes, i tried rubbing some powder on with a finger but its not getting the coveragre i was hoping and im paranoid about harming the chicken's eyes.

Any tips?

I would try petroleum jelly. Just rub a think layer on their combs. I've never tried this but I know that some folks will use it to coax embedded ticks out by smothering them. It might provide an airtight barrier that the bugs can't get through. The worst that can happen is, it won't work. But it won't hurt them. Good luck!
