Treating Silkies for mites

I posted in the Silkie thread, but then thought I should post it here instead, Does anyone know if you dust a Silkie the same way to dust a regular chicken? Just today I noticed everyone seemed itchy. I have never had a problem before, but I regularly dust my laying hens twice a year. I keep the Silkies on my porch and just hadn't thought about it with them. I had already done the others before I got the Silkies.

I spray with dog flea/tick spray or use ivermectin pour-on. As necessary I bathe them in flea/tick shampoo.

Thanks so much for the reply, but sprays and baths are kind of out of the question with high's only in the 50's. Oldtimegator replied to my other post and said that dusting was fine, so I think that is the more logical answer for me. Thank you for your reply though, very considerate and caring.
