Question. To folks who know: Is my vet correct that I should assume my other 5 birds are also infected with Mycoplasma Gallisepticum? She says she KNOWS they MUST be also infected because they are from the same flock. Also, question.. should I go ahead and give them the 5 day treatment of the water-soluable Tylan that goes in their drinking water? Its an antibiotic.
My fear is that since they have no symptoms right now, won't this help them build a resistance to anti-biotics? Or is this really the premptive care that knocks it out (which is what she told me herself today). She claims that the disease does not relapse after this 5 day treatment. She's never seen it. I argued that I heard differently on here (but obviously I'm not a professional). Still, if this can help my 5 healthy birds (who must be MG carriers now I guess), should I go ahead and give the flock the water treament and pray they stay healthy. These are pets. I don't care about egg production. I just love them.
