Treating under wing and feet burns?

Walmart didn't have anything due to an "upgrade" and reorganization. I have aloe and Neosporin on hand, which I've been using when I can supervise him. I also wash it with distilled water since our local water is very metallic right now. Ordered medication from Amazon. Hopefully it gets here quick with the holidays.

His one foot is still fairly red. You can also see what appears to possibly be a blister under his toe. The hind toe next to it is the crispy one. The skin is now peeling. There's a wound there for sure. It doesn't seem to hurt, but it goes the entire length of the toe. I think there's also another small burn on the forward toe.

This is his red foot. Front toe has possible blister. Thoughts? It's a white spot on his foot, by the fold on the couch. He's standing on it so not a fantastic picture. We were bonding and I didn't want to ruin the moment. The color is very true to life, so you can see the color difference. If it IS a blister, how should I tend to it?

That back toe is the crispy one. The other side of it is the wound. He also possibly has skin peeling on the top of his foot.

Apparently if my grill was Teflon it could have killed him within seconds! Poor Giles has survived more than we thought.

I was assigned to a little guy one night in the hospital long ago during my nurse’s training. He had to hold onto his crib sides to stand up (you know that almost ready to walk stage). It would break your heart to see him all covered with burns—they looked horrible but he wasn’t even fussy. Just playing like there was nothing wrong with him at all. Somehow he’d ended up with a pot of boiling water all over him—I don’t remember the circumstances. It was a horrible accident at any rate. I would imagine now, as an adult around 35 or so, he most likely still has some scars. But yeah, there he was, grinning and as fine as any other child as far as he knew.

Don’t worry about your little buddy. He isn’t burned badly at all, really. He’s going to be just fine. I’ve had many burns like you describe on his feet (on my hands, from our wood stove and my own clumsiness). Little burns like that, even ones that bleed or char, don’t amount to a lot unless they get infected. Keep him clean, as much as it’s possible to do, feed him well and he’ll be good as new in a week or so.

I think the aloe and neosporin will be fine. I would leave the blister alone, let it drain/pop or go down on it's own. You are keeping the feet clean, I think @CindyinSD is right, he should heal up fine - you are doing a good job taking care of him.
He looks like a sweet thing to me! I don't know anything about them - does he talk?

Aww, that poor guy! Luckily Giles doesn't appear to be that bad. It's just very angry looking. The biggest concern is infection since he walks around in his own poop. Kind of impossible to stop in birds, though!

They can! Mine is a rescue. He prefers to whistle. Specifically the wolf whistle. He also sorta knows "come here" like you would whistle to a dog. He loves to sing to my shoes, or my socks when I wear them. He also knows "Kiss Kiss" where you kiss the crown of his head. He will lift his wings away from his body and click his beak in response. Luckily he's also trained to respond to his name. If I tell his name in a specific time he replies loudly. That's how I found him when he got out. Worst game of Marco/Polo ever.

This is him being nervous today. He's still super clingy. I spend a lot of time of the couch so he has free reign of it. They act just like little toddlers. He can throw fits, get cranky, be super sweet, burst out into song randomly, then fluff and bite you when he's done. He has his favorite foods, favorite toys, and things he hates. They're very trainable if you put in the effort. Giles refused to come out of his cage when I first got him. I slowly taught him to eat treats with tweezers, then fingers. Then I taught him how to whistle while people were in the room. (he learned by singing to my toe) finally he got to the point where he lives outside his cage, knows "Bye Bye" means go home, knows how to avoid the cat, survived two (now three/four) near death attempt (one by cat, one by fly trap), and eats wall plaster. And wood. Wall plaster is his favorite. He's also fond of cords. And laptops. We pin cardboard to the wall for him to destroy instead of the wall. Every other week it gets replaced. We also have an open PC tower by his cage. He goes in and strips the cables bare. (He spits everything out so it's okay) he likes to "whistle while you work"

It's a weird relationship for sure. They're prone to being lonely. But he's been my little buddy for 12+ years. I adore him and his strange quirks.

Now I'm done gushing about my love for this little guy. :) He's such a sweet thing.

Well, isn't he just the cutest!
Gush away, I find it interesting:)

His wound looks worse tonight. :( It's bled all over. The top layer of skin is for sure coming off. It's a dark brown around the edges. From blood or burn I'm not sure. The blister had turned a dark red, and another burn formed on the top of a different toe. When I gently wiped off his bloody foot it bled all over again for about ten seconds. Blood this far out from the burn is bad, right?

He has a bit of medication on his foot, hence the shine. I think he may be rubbing it raw on his rope perches. I can't think of a way to wrap it without him picking it off. He often tries to take his metal band off for fun.

Big, red, ugly blister. It was white and just forming yesterday. I haven't burned myself in years. When I do I usually forget about it in a day or so. Is it normal for the blister to get redder as time goes on?

It's a little worse underneath.

Messy tail feathers are due to him being wrapped in a towel and held upside down for treatment. He sang for the length of Home Alone and was in a fantastic mood, so the burns can't be too bad. There's no vets open here for a week or so, not can I afford it immediately, so I'm hoping it's okay.

I would just continue to treat it as you have been.

Update: He's recovering slowly. His blister is now a dark red from the blood underneath. We just don't touch it except to medicate. There's a few small open wounds on the top of his foot. You can see clear ooze sometimes. Like if you try to pop a zit that isn't ready to pop. They're healing fine. The top of his main toenail is kind of black from being singed, and we found a few pin sized burns here and there. The biggest concern is his back toe. The entire back is now black. I think it's a scab? But when you dab at it, the cloth comes off bloody. It could also be dried blood. The only time I tried to remove it he began bleeding again, so I've left it for now. I'm not sure if I SHOULD try to clean it or not?

He's not in pain from his foot. It's still a darker shade of pink than his other foot. And the scaly texture is gone. But he seems to be on the mend for now. Barring an infection, I think he'll recover physically. Emotionally, he's a wreck. I can mend a broken bone, but a broken heart is proving difficult. Especially with the terror of flying away. I might reach out to a few behavior specialists to see what I can do if he doesn't recover. He's doing better, just clingy. Imagine an overtired, traumatized toddler. That clicks his bars for HOURS ON END until you're both insane.

Thank you for all the help everyone! I think we've got him out of the danger zone. I assume I still leave the blister alone. I'm not sure if I should try to remove the dried blood that's forming a scab or not. For now I've left it alone. He gets medicated every night. He's getting the hang of being held upside down in a towel like a bat.

I would "clean as needed" - like if he gets it soiled (poopy) then I would flush with chlorhexidine or warm soapy water.

I'm sorry he's so heartbroken over losing his mate, hopefully in time he will come around.
