Yes, she is still separate from the other two. They pulled her crest out 2 more times so they're back to their own sides. They still spend every moment right next to each other at the divider. I will see if I can get them to hold still for pics and post them soon

Well at least they can still be together and that is good especially for Qwackers. shouldn't be too much longer before you see your first eggs. How old are they now?

Maybe you should try separating out the most aggressive to live by themselves, otherwise you are just re forcing that Qwackers is the one at fault and "lower" in the pecking order? That's my train of thought anyway. Maybe the two less aggressive ducks would get on fine without an instigator?

Hi, I'm new to all of this, and about to inherit a 9-day old White Crested (eggs from Metzer Farms and hatched in my daughter's kindergarten class) that appears to have wry neck. Neck is bent to the side, and when does walk it's very unstable. Rolls to it's back a lot and struggles to right itself. After reading this entire thread, I can't help but think that Cotton Top is in the same boat as Quackers. I just bought 500mg Flush-Free Niacin. I just open one capsule and sprinkle it in the water? Or the food? And how often? Thank you all fir your help.

you need plain niacin, not flush free. You can also use brewers yeast to sprinkle on their food. The niacin tablets are crushed and added to drinking water.

I'd PM jennimig and talk to her about all she did to get Qwackers though her wry neck. it's a little more complicated than just using niacin. she can give you some good advise. and

please let us know how the lil one is doing..

Qwackers was born February 10th, Indie and Raj February 14th, so I think we have a few more months to go before we get any eggs.

I haven't been able to figure out which one was doing the picking. At first I thought it was Indie, but then Raj was being aggressive so I'm not sure. The way that they are housed they can see each other and be close so I don't think Qwackers is lonely.

It sounds to me like Cotton has wry neck. I would skip the niacin and go with Polyvisol without iron directly administered 4-5 drops twice a day. Wry neck can be a deficiency in a few vitamins, E, Selenium, and B vitamins. For the selenium I crushed a tablet in a syringe full of hot water to dissolve it. Her daily meds were 4-5 drops poly, 3 drops of selenium and 3-4 drops of Prednisolone in the morning, then the same poly and pred in the evening for 4 weeks, then we weaned off. I also massaged her neck for about 10 minutes twice a day after meds, it seemed to loosen the muscles and help straighten her neck out. My method was not exact, but we made it work. I think the key is treating quickly and continuing even after they seem better.

Just a word of caution...it may get worse before it gets better, BUT it can be treated. I was on the verge of euthanizing Qwackers after a visit to the vet. I waited it out, kept treating and now she is perfectly healthy. She was a little slow at first, but now she has caught up to her adopted siblings and leads a normal duck life
