So my hens appear to have a bacterial infection, based on the symptoms. I have all the info on Baytril treatment in their water, but I don't feel confident that they will get the right dosage...it is obviously dependent on the amount of water they will drink. Is there an injectable form for chickens, and what is the dosage? (I've searched the web and can't find that specific information). My vet is not a poultry vet, but is willing to write a perscription.

thanks. Happy new year!

I administer half a cc in a syringe mixed with water to each chicken on the first day. Also, add to their community water and watch how they progress. If there are any that seem to be exhibiting stronger symptoms, I remove them from the flock and put them in the house in a box and treat with individual dosage for the next three to four days. This treatment plan has seemed to work best for my flock.

You are right, in the community water supply, you can never monitor who is drinking adeqately. Generally, the sickest chickens are not going to be drinking as much as the ones not affected.

Good luck!!

Dosage depends.

The best/easiest Baytril to get is not injectable but the kind to be given by mouth. The pharmacy will send it with the right dosage requirements. saladin
