I just brought home 4 polish chicks yesturday that will be added to my flock in the future, and I want to make sure they are happy as possible. My first batch of chicks (the 6 pullets I have now) were happy and healthy and grew up well, but I was getting introduced to the world of chickens (Without BYC’s help. Scary, I know) and I am lucky I ended up with all of my pullets alive, happy, and healthy.

Well now I’m here with this second batch, and I want to treat them well since now I know how to properly care for them as chicks from day one. They are stuck inside because of our still 30 degree weather. They seem bored and I’m wondering if anybody has any ideas about safe chick treats to keep them entertained. They are 2.5 weeks old. Here’s a picture!

I don't normal give my chicks treat when they are little but maybe some people do, I'm not sure. Sometimes I like to but some small twigs (not too big that they could fall and get hurt) for them to climb and kick around in

Good idea! I’m going to try and grab a few right now!

Yeah, I didn't give my day old chicks any treats till they were 8 weeks. The complete nutrition in Starter feed is important to growing chicks, IMO.
I did put them outside at 5 1/2 weeks and they had access to grass, weeds, bugs and worms, so I offered them Chick Grit in a separate container. They are 6 1/2 weeks in this pic. 20160513_103228.jpg .
I offered them scratch grains as their first treat at 8 weeks. GC
