Apparently my hens are VERY bored. They have been eating their eggs and picking at each others feathers. If I can make them some treats that will keep them occupied, maybe they will stop this behavior! I am looking for something that they can pick at for a long time. I currently put fresh veggies in a suet feeder and hang, hang full heads of cabbage and iceberg lettuce, but it seems like they go through these extremely fast. I have 10 standard size hens and 1 rooster. If anyone has something that they make for their hens and would like to share I would appreciate some guidance. It can be something easy or something difficult, just so it keeps them occupied!!! Thanks.

I think I've seen that egg & feather eating/pecking could be signs of nutritional deficiency or lack of space. Also could be habits that need to be broken. Good luck.

Most time you will find the hen that is not laying and has shrunken comb will be the egg eater that would be the one that has yolk on its beak

I always used a head of cabbage wrapped in a piece of chicken wire and hung from the ceiling to about 12 inches above floor

also I used a piece of alfalfa hay wrapped in a piece of chicken wire and hung from ceiling to 12 inches above floor
try this
