    Richland's municipal code:

    http://www.codepublishing.com/wa/richland/

A maximum of 12 animals or fowl, as defined above, may be raised or kept per one acre gross lot area.

Please keep in mind, all municiple codes are trumped by zoning ordinances. So depending on what your parcel is zoned, the laws related to animal keeping may change.

Hello! I may be moving to the Tri- cities area...from Hawaii. I have a pet rooster. Is islanders have chickens everywhere. :) He was a rescue, and he lives inside/outside. He sleeps in a cage at night inside the house, goes to bed around 9 or 10 at night, and doesn't wake up until 9 or 10 in morn.

I have no idea what rules/regulations are in the area, good places to look to live, or what the dangers for him are.

We have no snakes or Hawks here in Hawaii. And it's warm year round. He's a typical island rooster in appearance, weighs 2 lbs. I would like to get him a girlfriend at some point, but I am not interested in keeping a big flock.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

    call and ask..

since livestock or poultry will also cover chickens..

so don't just assume that it's ok.. when talking about pets-- chickens are not on the list for most people

    ask to be sure

there was another user locked in a legal battle with his/her HOA.. because he/she assumed that "oh, my chickens are pets" so their livestock and poultry ban is invalid for his/her case.

if you don't want to go through all that.... wasting time/money/labor, etc..

CALL and clarify to be sure.. better yet... get it in writing
