We had an incident today involving our three week old BO and my cat. Another post in another forum. Anyway, after treating her now she's been making this trilling sound. Everything I look up says it's a happy sound. I'm confused. She can't be too happy right now. I only gave her penicillin so she can't be in a drug induced happiness, can she? What a day. I won't sleep until she recovers. And if she doesn't, I won't sleep again!

It is sometimes a warning call also. Guess they can tell the difference in tone or something.

Well that would make a tad bit more sense. I just hope it's not also used as an "I'm dying" sound. : (

The "don't eat me" trill sounds exactly the same as the "happy" trill. Yes, it is sometimes a distress call. And she does sound like she's in distress. They don't have an "I'm dying" sound. I've seen them die and they just... do. No sound associated with it. If she's making noise she's probably on the mend. Keep the antibiotics up. Cats have bad things in saliva and claws. Treat her again in a week, and again after that. I am not a vet, I just know that when I had a house bird get a bite, my vet warned me that they need retreating or a weak treatment every day for two weeks. I dont' know the dose.
