Trim or not?????

I have 3 chicks and they are 3 weeks old do they need the wings trimmed?

Probably not. Even without having their wings trimmed, my chickens have never been able to fly very far, perhaps to heights of three feet at most.

My chicken squawk with annoyance even having to fly up to the roost. I don't think you'll have a problem.

My experience with wing clipping lead me to the conclusion that it may not be necessary.

I did clip their wings , but my larger birds never do try to fly out of the run. I do have a California Grey that is a lighter bird and with both her wings clipped she still flys up to escape the run.

So I guess it depends on the enviroment and size of birds.
