Was shocked to crack an egg and discover a triple yolker, followed by THREE SETS of doubles!! These were from our old lady (3 yrs) RIR hen, who until now has only produced single yolks! We were amazed...do these multiple yolks happen often?? Thanks!

No it does not happen often and is considered a reproductive issue. It is not wise to hatch an egg with so many yolks but it won't harm the hen. She is older and simply let too many yolks drop in the egg making process. Enjoy them when they come.

Lucky you! Triple yolk eggs are rare, though doubles are fairly common.
