Hello, I am Nicole. I am in North Central Florida.

Long story, but I just became a stay at home mom, my mom just moved in, and my husband had never been to Rural King. he wanted a kayak, he found the kayak, and he knew i had wanted chicken for a bit. To redirect my new stress of my mother moving in, he said do it.... no he really said "I can't get a kayak without you getting chicks" He and his family had many chicken over the years, it's not that hard you can do it. So he got a kayak and I got 15 chicks. in my living room. because well, my 2 dogs, 3 cats, several coral reef tanks, and a 22 month old son was not enough. oh and my mom, with her 2 dogs, 2 tortoises, 1 turtle, and 2 cats was not enough. HAHAHAHA. no. lol

well, I am sure you know I had to make another quick trip to Rural King. 6 more chicks later, we are up to 21. I know I have 6-7 breeds, but no clue on what they all are. lol. Isa browns, americana (hybrids right?) silver and gold wyandotte, buff orpington, RIR, black asian, and leghorns.. maybe a few more. with this venture I am hoping to have some pets that help with pests and added perk of eggs. I am sure to have some loss, but I am trying to learn all it can. Nest time I will def go through a hatchery, but we all start somewhere.

You can also find me in the Reef Tank forums, I raise seahorses and clownfish, lots of corals and I am working on breeding new species that have never been done in captivity so we can quit taking from the reefs. that got me started on sustainability and zero waste. I do aquaponics and work towards more self sufficiency without being out of touch. I grew up training dogs, and on horse farms. I suck at growing plants, so thats where the aquaponics comes in.

Please feel free to ask questions and steer me in the direction of stand out articles.

Oh boy, you jumped in with both feet :D Congratulations on finally being able to get some chicks, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

I used to live in FL and seeing the seahorses in various aquariums (big & small) was always a joy! It would be awesome to see some of your pictures.

Best wishes and thanks for joining us!
