We have a 1 year old Cayuga Duck. She eats great, drinks, lays an egg everyday, swims in a kiddie pool (when the weather is warm)
The problem is that for the last 2 weeks she has had to breath through her mouth and she can't make any noise. While rummaging through the
dirt, straw or hay she has to stop to take a breath. She is careful when drinking water that her nostrils do not go under water. When in the pool, she
will go under, then come up and shake her head, also itches her nose with with her foot, seems like she is congested. We have tried VetRx as well as
bringing her in the bathtub with warm water. Nothing has helped, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Since we are new and this is an urgent situation, if you think you could help and would like to see a video of our duck you could go to
oliver_and_chickens on Instagram. I promise we will learn how to put pics and videos on here in the future! Thanks

Thank you, we are calling a vet today
We scheduled an appt. with a Vet for today (May 8th) but we were able to cancel it as of yesterday afternoon. We started giving Jackson peas covered in olive oil on Tuesday, a few in the morning and some more in the afternoon. After 2 1/2 days of this he was able to clear his throat!! We are not sure if something was caught in his throat blocking air or what. He is doing very well, no more having to open his mouth to take a breath. The only thing that hasn't been returned to normal is his voice. He still cannot quack. We are hoping this comes back with a little time. We'll see.
