Trouble Candling

Hey Y'all,

I put my first batch of quail eggs in the incubator 5 days ago. I went to candle the eggs and I am having a lot of trouble trying to see any development in the eggs. I have never had a problem candling chicken or duck eggs. These tiny quail eggs with the dark shells seem impossible. Am I doing something wrong?

I have been trying SO hard to candle my quail eggs and just had NO luck! They all just look like dark blobs haha. I do have one I can see all the way thru with the light so I am positive it’s not fertile, but all the others just seem super dark and rather heavy. Hoping that’s a good sign!

What day are they on?

Today is day 13...I tried on Day 1, 8, 9, and 10...and then just quit trying :-( It’s my first try ever hatching anything, so I had no clue what to look for. Wish I’d found this site about 2.5 weeks ago!
