trouble getting them used to new coop.

I put up a dog chain link dog kennel thats 14x8 ft, put a large doghouse in it for the nest boxes. The old coop is 4x6 ft. They have been in the old coop for about three months. My chickens free range at least half a day every day. During the day they love to hang out in the new coop to eat and pick at the shrubbery i left to give them something to do. Come roosting time they gripe at me until i let them into the old coop. How do i get them to roost in the new coop? I want to use the old coop for my new sebrights.

You will have to lock them in for a few days. Even then once you let them out to free range some will probably head for the old coop. Lock up the old coop and DON'T give in when they complain! After awhile they will get the idea. Good Luck!
