Good morning. We have been chicken parents for 6 years now. On our 2nd flock we lost 1st flock 2 years ago to a predator that killed our 4 girls. Now we have 3 americanas and 1 silky they are 2 years old. 2 out of the americanas go after the little silky. First time took all her feathers off her head and took a chunk out of her neck. We bring the silky in at night so they don’t go at her again. Put her in the pen this am and one of the americanas went after her right away. Please help, thanks

I wouldn’t keep removing her unless she gets injured. Re-integrating her will always create chaos for her. Put different obstacles in the run and plenty of hiding places for her so that she can get away from her flock mates that go after her. If you DO remove her, bring a friendly friend with her so that she isn’t the only target when she rejoins the flock.
Best wishes and be well!

Yes, she keeps getting injured and last time almost died. Plenty of spots and obstacles didn't work..since this happened in her prior flock as well (which is why we adopted her) Do you think something is genetically wrong with her and that's the reason she keeps getting bullied?

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Was her previous flock also comprised of non Silkies? She may be acting frightened, and whi could blame her, and that is what is bringing on the attacks.
Has she ever been in a Silkies only flock?
She is the odd one out in your flock and things aren't likely to improve for her. Perhaps getting 2 more Silkies of the same color may help her.

If you can't add more hens, and you must love her if you've saved her so many times - you might wire off a part of the coop just for her - then she's "with them" but is safe from attacks. Likely she's not getting any love at night when they're roosting either, so you might just give her a little house of her own. We had to do that with our rooster who was injuring the hens from over mating. I threw their scratch on both sides of the fence at the same place so they could still have the flock feeling - everybody got along ok after that
