Trouble raising meal worms

I think the main reason for the netting like cover is to keep things out like flies or moths, etc. I don't have anything on mine yet either. I probably look like a weirdo sitting in my boyfriends Recliner sorting out worms!

Don't feel bad, I was out on the deck with a container, the worm bag they came in and a kitchen scale trying to figure out if there really were 2000 !
Plus they smelled and I didn't want that in the house.

BTW, they are starving ! no wonder they are small I feel so bad for them.

They ate right through a 2 inch wide, 1/2 inch thick purple potato !
It is weird watching the tub oats move.

My Superworms I have in a small container barely move.

I know it's weird I always tease my daughter with them when she comes over. I think the weirdest is when they turn into that pupae stage and squirm around. Have you tried feeding a beetle? I was just reading on how to sex them...I've gone crazy! When I bought my worms it was at a lumber yard. The owner grows them for his chickens. He had me come in to see his set up. He had like 20 bins!

I have them like if they were worms. I give them potato and carrot. Of course they are in the bran bedding too. I also have the egg carton pieces for them to.

I guess the worms have different anatomy and then when the turn to beetles the body shape is a bit different but the easiest way is to see who is humping who, lol!
