A few weeks ago we purchased 6 chicks from a feed store, and now as they are getting older I am concerned about the gender of the chicks. Hoping for all hens! Here's some pictures if anyone can help me determine the gender that would be great (not sure if they are too young or not, they are around 4 weeks old)

It is a little early to tell, for me personally, but I can give you some things to watch for. Thick, brightly colored legs are more indicative of males. Some breeds will have male chicks that exhibit dominate behavior and a very upright stance early on. If you have one or two chicks looking very different from the others, they are most likely your males.

Did you buy from a straight run bin? In the next few weeks it should start to become more obvious. I had one chick that I swore was a pullet up until it was four months old and started growing sickle and saddle feathers.

Here's a picture of a very thick legged roo chick. It's uncommon for the sex to be this obvious.
