I hate starting threads, but I have searched and can't find anything matching these symptoms.
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
Some type of game pullett, not yet laying. She's small, but not sure of her weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
She was eating pellets out of my hand, when I noticed her throwing her head back to try to swallow. I could see the pellets in the back of her throat, but she was having trouble getting them down. She was finally able to swallow them, but afterwards stretched her neck out like a rooster when he crows.
I felt her crop and can't feel anything...it doesn't even feel full. Then again, I'm not sure I know what a crop feels like.
I opened her beak and looked inside her mouth. There was a white flake on the roof of her mouth and some yellow in the back. The white easily came off when I touched it with my finger. I'm not sure if that was plaque or just bits of food and oyster shell, since she had just been eating.
Right now she is in a dog kennel in the shed with water. I put hay in there with her, but maybe I should take that out in case she tries to eat it?
She still seems to be holding her neck funny, but in all other ways she is fine. Still bright and full of life and gave me a heck of a time when I tried to catch her.
One thing worth mentioning is that on Saturday she was running around with a mouse in her beak. I tried chasing her to scare her into dropping it, but she wouldn't give it up for anything. There's no way she could have eaten it, is there? My concern was that she could get a disease from it. Should I be worried about that?

4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
Could the pellets be too big? I normally feed crumbles. At this point, though they've been eating the pellets for a few weeks now. They have access to grit.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
I haven't seen any, but am expecting to since I have her in a dog kennel. I will update as soon as she passes some.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
nothing, besides isolation and water only.
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
I would like to treat her myself. I don't know of any vets that treat chickens in this area.

wood chips in the coop, grass run.
