I had a broody hatch out 4 chicks, 1 was I think crushed within a day but we have 3 healthy chicks who are now 9 days old.
Momma and chicks are in the coop in a separate enclosure. I want to reintroduce them into the flock as I have pullets I want to put in that same space to introduce them.
I let momma come out with chicks and all was well for a few moms but then a fight broke out with her and another hen at which point the rooster got involved and chased momma away from the chicks out into the run.
I did help split it up and momma quickly got back to her babies.
Is this normal? Should I wait longer? Should I be interfering at this point or let them work it out?
