I have a (not sure if i am allowed to say name so will describe) white plastic with red base hanging waterer. The trouble is, is that is not hanging level. My chicks are about 11 weeks I kept noticing that the shavings were very wet and the water was empty. I thought they were being rambunctious and bumping into it. My husband looked carefully and it is not always haning level, although the crate is perfectly level on the garage floor. Anyone have this probloem? Any fix known? I am now thinking of different solutions as hubby is nearing completion of the permanent coop/run. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

If you can try setting it on blocks instead of hanging it this may keep it more level this is what I did it helps a lot

Certain brands of the waterers you describe will leak if hung instead of set on ground or platform. Something about weight pulls the red base away from white container and breaks the seal. Water will just dribble out.

If it is from Tractor Supply (1 gallon size), some of them leak no matter if they are sitting up on level bricks. I have 1 that works and I returned 1 this spring that never worked. I prefer the Little Giant brand with the red bottom that screws into the 1 gallon top--they never seem to leak.
