Troubled Rooster

This rooster is very handsome but a jerk. My friend gave him to me but now that I’ve had him for a few days he’s very aggressive, what can I do? I don’t want to send him to freezer camp. He tried to attack me each time I go into the coop zone. My dog goes in with at times and that keeps him from coming close to me but is the dog sees something more interesting than what I’m carrying for the hens then Blue starts attacking me. I’ve tried “watering” him along with whacking him with a stick but no use.. help….

What are your options? Put up with him till he hurts you or someone else, and believe me, a rooster can inflict serious injuries that can take a long time to heal. Those claws and spurs are nasty, from digging in dirt, and the beak can put an eye out.

You say you don't want to eat him, so you can pass him along to someone else, where he can hurt someone else.

Those are your options.

Edit: you could chop him and bury him under a tree for fertilizer.

Just had to cull my rooster yesterday for the same reason (he's my avatar). He was the worse rooster i have ever seen. Would even try to attack through the run hardware cloth.

If you cant do the deed find someone willing.

Do not pass him on to someone else like your 'friend' did to you. A rooster that size is capable of causing serious harm.

There may be some who will try to tell you you can rehabilitate him. Maybe THEY can rehabilitate him. It's no job for an amateur. You could get hurt.
