True ameraucana from Meyers ?

Every post I found on the subject was quite a few years old. Meyers now has EE's and what they are calling true Ameraucanas. Has anyone gotten any to see if they indeed are? I have one coming in a week or so and am hoping she isn't an EE. (Which I have two of and love them

Meyer hatchery does indeed sell true Ameraucanas (Blue Ameraucanas) in addition to their Easter Eggers and is the only major hatchery that sells true Ameraucanas. As would be expected, the price on their Blue Ameraucanas runs from $14-$20 per chick as opposed to $2.07-$3.25 per chick on their EEs.

Great news Michael!! Yup I paid $20 for her. Hope she makes it all the way to Hawaii safe and ALIVE with her 3 assorted brown egg laying sisters. I'm very excited!! And happy to hear I will be getting what I paid for!

I hope your chicks arrived okay. I'm curious, what color did her eggs end up being. I also ordered a Blue Ameraucana from Meyer, specifically for the blue eggs. I heard their Marans eggs are pretty light, I was wondering if the Ameraucana were very light as well? DId you end up with a Blue, Black or Splash? I got a black.

I ordered 2 blue Ameraucanas from Meyers about one year ago. It was a last minute decision, and when I called on a Monday (the day you can order "left overs") there were only a few left.

They were healthy upon arrival and still happy and healthy birds. Now a year later I can give you my experience.

One bird came non muffed. (plain faced). She is on the small side and produces small, but well colored eggs. She's lucky to have been sold because from what I understand, she should have been culled. BUT she's a sweet bird and a great broody and mom (I don't breed her, but she broods and raises chicks).

The other one is big, gorgeous, muffed, bearded, and full of herself. Lays beautiful medium/large blue eggs. I bet I could show her. This one I am planning to breed.

Both are black (not blue, but they carry the gene- I was hoping for a blue).

So from my experience, you can get a variety of quality. Perhaps too, since I was buying "left overs" some one took pity on the non muffed one and just sent her out without culling her. Lucky bird.

I have 10 birds from hatcheries: Mixed group of breeds. 3 from Meyer, 6 from McMurray. Another 6 I bought from a local breeder (respectable one).

I will say that I am really happy with the hatchery girls for the most part. They are very healthy, balanced birds (no mean ones) that lay very well. Some of them don't have the biggest of eggs (that are supposed to), but I'm finding that my locally bred ones are pretty much the same.

I would order from either hatchery again.

I am glad someone posted recently about the availability of true ameraucanas from the hatcheries. They are becoming more widely available.
I ordered 8 blue ameraucanas from Meyer hatchery and all look true to breed, Except perhaps one rooster who is a Splash but showing some rust coloring on his wings. I'm not planning on breeding him anyway he was supposed to be a pullet I will get a rooster from a local breeder to expand the gene pool.
I am pleased with them and received a good variety - two splash, two black, and 4 blue (two darker and two lighter.) Only 2 ended up being roos.
The pullets should begin laying any time now - I'll post on the egg colors then.

My Meyer's blue Ameraucanas are now 6 months old and have developed into very acceptable breed exanples and lay large slate blue eggs. I recently obtained some chicks from a local breeder which are supposed to be purebred blue ameraucana - but all of them have yellow on their feet, Needless to say I am disappointed and will not be using these for breeding. The Meyer's Ameraucanas are much better stock!

This is the first egg from my Meyer's birds. It is pale but the colors are deepening in later eggs.
