Olive is about 9 weeks old. She's shy, so it's hard to get a lot of pictures of her, and with her all-black coloring especially hard to capture detail. This is as close as I've come. She has some feathering down the leg, and you can't really tell here but her legs are a dark slate grey. She has a nice full beard. Is there anything else I should look for before deciding whether she's an Ameraucana or EE? (If you decree EE, please tell me why so I can learn - to my newbie eyes she looks a LOT like the picture on Amerauca.org!

A true Ameraucana wouldn't have the feathers? (Don't worry, I love her just as much, just want to know!)

An answer from the expert! Thank you!! (The woman I bought her from said she might be an Olive Egger, that's why she's named Olive!)

Yep, she has been crossed out to another breed to get those feathers. I bet she is an olive egger; crossed to a marans.

x2, it's a very common practice to cross Ameraucanas with Marans to produce olive eggers.
