Truly black copper marans?

I have a 5 month old rooster that I got as a week old chick and raised. When I got him as a chick, I was told that he was a black copper marans. His coloring is coming in nicely, but he is looking pretty silver around the neck. Is he really a birchen marans?

He does look Marans, but that isn't Black Copper. I'd say he is indeed Birchen.

I thought he might be a mix. What's disappointing is that it seems like I can hardly find anyone in my area that is honest about these rarer breeds. At least he's still pretty nice looking. Maybe he'll lead to some nice olive eggers

I'd say he's a Birchen as well. The wing bars and saddle feathers should be silver like the hackle feathers. A clearer pic would help.

I will try to get some clearer pictures tonight. I'd say he looks mostly birchen but the wing bars have some gold/copper to them.
