You are on an island with a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage. You have to go back to the mainland on a boat and you have to take all of your companions back with you but you can only take one at a time, per trip. If you leave the goat and cabbage together, the goat will eat the cabbage, and if you leave the wolf and the goat together, the wolf will eat the goat. So how do you get all three of them to the mainland safely?

Leave the wolf with the cabbage.

First, take the goat to the other side, and come back alone. Then bring the cabbage with you, and take the goat back. Then bring the wolf with you and go back alone, and in the final trip bring the goat. I've heard this one before.
