I notice that the chicken has VERY short legs - and I'm leaning towards it not having knees or thigh bones one, not a spinal issue persay. I am thinking it didn't develop in the egg correctly, and after it hatched with no knees or no thigh bones the muscles in that region compensated to help it stay upright rather than fall over and be on its chest.

Very interesting though
