Waiting for chicks to hatch can be NERVE-WRACKING!!...
...especially when you have a broody hen (specifically my always-broody white Silkie hen, Isabel) who won't even let you peek at the babies while they hatch. That's why when I really want to see the chicks hatch, I usually put the eggs under Mystery (black Silkie hen) or Pumpkin (buff-blue Silkie hen), who are still strict brooders, but let you peek once in a while. Or most likely, if I REALLY, REALLY want to see the babies hatch, I put them under Caramel (Nankin hen), or Hugo (black Jersey Giant hen- yes, hen) who are the most loose brooders in my flock, and who easily let you see the chicks hatch and peek every five minutes. (And all of my in-between brooders are iffy, you never know what they will do and/or let you do.)
