The male Mr. Mom is apparently heterozygous for pea comb and leg feathering. Some males had feathering, some didn't.
His father, Diablo, was homozygous for both leg feathering and pea comb as all the offspring received leg feathers.
Mr. Mom's son, Raptor, was homozygous for leg feathering, but heterozygous for pea comb. Go figure??? LOL!
At least...that's what I'm chalking it up to!
Diablo, Mr. Mom and Raptor all had pea combs. The pea-comb "shrinks" in size with each generation. Hopefully I'll get a NICE pea comb. Raptor didn't make it past this summer...too wet for him. Shame too...I liked that bird...
All the males came out with silver hackles and saddle feathers...it was like a reverse columbian (or Dark Brahma) thing going on.
Females either came out all black, or were that orange-ish color.
