I hope you get your answers, they have been in my damaged brain (post tumor) before too...I had answers once too, but Im not 100%...need to re-confirm so keep me posted!
Here are a few of the questions on CV that I still have floating around in my little pea brain.
1. Is there a Coryza vaccine that doesn't need to be used right away & can be held for a month to do the second round of shots?
I hope so just for cost effectiveness, if not, it seems worth biting the bullet and paying for it...
2. Are those first 2 shots the end of it, or will the chickens need a yearly booster? As I understand it, from reading the UK websites on Vaccines, they need an annual vaccination, just like dog and cat shots. I could be wrong, but I think this yearly.
3. Is there a minimum or maximum age to give the vaccine? Its the age of the birds that has been my issue, I have mixed ages in my flock - what is the youngest and oldest??? Found it once, and the dosage - Its on a veterinary website I have misplaced, I am sooo sorry (poor excuse of swiss cheese memory!)
4. I know the vaccine shouldn't be given to sick birds, but what about birds that had earlier symptoms that might have been Coryza or any number of other diseases. They could be "cured" carriers, or not. Probably, the vaccine won't help them if they've had Coryza and/or are carrriers, but will it at least NOT hurt them?
I dont wanna kill my birds either! Hope we find out about this one!
5. Is this vaccine like the ILT (Larangyo...something) vaccine, in that it will protect them but make them carriers that infect other birds when we take ours to shows? You and I think absolutely alike here!! I want to protect my birds! I wish the best for everyone else, and will do what I can to keep them safe. Question: If you have or have been exposed to Coryza, and have Vaccinated for it, will your birds be clean and pass the NPIP test for shipping eggs/birds???
