I am a newer chickie Mommy and I have been doing TONS of research on natural ways of feeding/treating/protecting your chickens. I have four barred rock mix chicks and four Easter eggers. My barred rocks are almost a month old and my ee's are two weeks. My barred rocks so far like grapes(I cut them in half) the ee's didn't eat their grapes though.Today I was reading on herbs and their benefits for chickens,I have some herbs growing and now I'm planning on growing more. I have my chickies some rosemary and some basil. Barred Rocks loved it I'm going to see if my ee's hand touched theirs in just a few moments. I am so excited and happy to have these wonderful little chicks.

Here's a link for the benefits for turmeric. One of the greatest tools out there. Used in cooking and feeding to poultry.

Mine LOVE pinapple sage.... I also feed oregeno...

I'm going to try and plant a lot of herbs for them. I bought mealworms today and oh my Lord they love them I have seen someone refer to them as chicken crack it is the truth. They watch my every move now like "She's got the crack, we must do what she says and watch her every move." LOL

Did you buy the live mealworms or dried? Mine won't touch the dried ones... I feed them to my bluebirds.. I'm going to do more herbs next year as well....

I bought the live worms but I am going to try dried because they are easier to find and just see how they react to them.
