I ran into the term on a technical scuba diving forum, typically used to describe the latest and best in technical rebreather diving electronics, which divers depend their life on.

Some breeders are quite serious about using the correct terminology, especially those that show and teach others how to show. They want the correct terminology used: Cockerel, Cock, Pullet, Hen.

There's a few sites where I do use those terms, but most of the time I refer to my boys as Roos.

Don't let it bug you. If you are learning from the site, just use their language. If you don't really like the site, just move on.

Yes I learn a lot. But they are extremely offensive. I feel like I need to get my dictionary out when I talk to them. But they know their stuff so if I am going to stay I need to get tougher skin

Ugh, it sounds like that site is filled with an uppity crew. I probably would stay away. Heck, I'm in my fourth year of vet school studying poultry medicine and I still use the term "roo". I'd love to have a breeder correct me!
