trying the eggspriment in germany

Very cool. Going to be watching your progress.
Okay now I'm wanting to go pick up a dozen eggs from the local amish store and pop them in once my geese finish hatching.
Can't be any worse results than trying to use shipped eggs.
My postal worker thinks its hilarious to destroy shipped eggs.
My last batch were frozen solid from her keeping them in her jeep overnight before delivering them.

Hi,
I had a refrigerated egg hatch under a broody.

To make the long story short,I had a broody and while I was trying to save eggs from my chickens they went into a moult and for the most part quit laying.

I bought eggs from a local farm.(Easter Eggers) I put 12 of the Easter Egger eggs under my broody and then for good measure (as I too had read on here about the refrigerated eggs hatching) I put 3 "old'' eggs from my Easter Eggers under the broody.

Of course I marked all the eggs. I was so excited to see that one of mine hatched!

Then I thought CRAP my roo and his roo were almost the same color and some of these chicks looked like they could be from either.

Finally my brain kicked in and reminded me that my roo is a blue copper Marans. Check for feathers on their legs.

Sure enough one has feather legs and is blue just like an older chick a different broody hatched.

Should be Olive Eggers.

ETA: My eggs had been in the refrigerator for a while as I had given up having enough of my eggs.
