Okay, so I am new to this whole chicken thing and very excited! My husband built a beautiful coop with run and my 6 girls are already enjoying it! I live in Florida, so of course right now its like 95 degress outside! HOTTTT!!! I decided to do the Deep Littler Method and it seems to be working great. No smell and really not that many flies. But I just read a thread on here and it seems like everyone uses this method for the winter to keep the chickens warm. Is this something that I should be doing here in Florida??? My girls seems to like to dig a hole and get in the dirt below to cool off. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing by them. And FYI: my coop itself has hardware cloth as the bottom so I am only using the DL method for the run itself.
Thanks for any input you can give me...I just want my girls to be happy and as cool as they can be!
