I just had a chicken coop built by a handy man, but he charges $45 an hour. I want to add an opening to one of the walls for air flow at night in the heat of the summer, like now. The coop is made of plywood. I was thinking of finding an old used cabinet door with hinges to use for the door and adding a latch to keep it closed in winter. All I would have to do is cut a rectangular hole in the wood and staple hardware cloth to the opening. The problem is I know nothing about saws, and how you would go about starting the first cut into the wall. How do you make the first cut? What tool is used for that:confused:?

What kind of saw are you using?
I need to buy one, maybe a jig saw? I don't know. All I have right now is a hack saw and a circular saw, but my circular saw is too heavy and a hack saw wouldn't work. I have to cut out a rectangular hole in the wall. You tell me what kind of saw because I have no idea. I know a jig saw would work but how do you make the first cut into the wood? I have to buy one.

I have to put it between 2 studs in the wall.
