Trying to catch chicken

We had chicken fly out of the coop I have been trying to catch it over a week it’s staying on our property but once I get close it flys away. Does anyone have any ideas what I can try to do to catch it

Have you got a large dog crate, or shed or even garage, that you can lead her into with a trail of mealworms, or other favorite? If you can get close enough, a fish net is another option. Or maybe borrow a live trap. Good luck.

Watch her so you know where she goes to roost at night.
Wait until full on dark then go get her.
Chickens are very easy to handle after dark.

Darkness can be your best friend when it comes to trying to catch a wayward chicken.

Don’t use a bright flash light. If I need to mess with chickens after dark I use my cell phone light and put it in my shirt pocket. That gives me just enough light to see but won’t disturb the chicken. If you can reach the chicken, just pick her up with your hands instead of the net. Happy hunting!

It didn’t work tonight we weren’t home in time to watch it go to its spot for the night we looked at were we see it all day but didn’t see it I will try again tomorrow night

I never bother chasing birds during the day. I just wait till they roost BUT keep in mind they can curl up into some pretty tiny spots.
