Trying to convert a dirty rabbit hutch into a brooder/outside pen?Help

Our rabbit passwed away this winter, and spring hasn't been here long so we have not cleaned out the cage except for taking out the food, water, and rabbit. The cage is fairly dirty with a pile of shavings, straw and poop in it. Could I clean it out and make it safe for chicks abou 2 weeks and older?
