Trying to decide if I should take off work for hatch...

When I was working I planned my hatches for my days off too. (Now I'm retired) I still seem to always set my eggs on the days I had off when I was working. Just can't seem to break the habit. My DH wasn't to interested in my hatches in the beginning but now he goes in and checks the progress. We're going into lockdown tomorrw.

It's very addictive, but honestly, they can take hours to hatch, and are generally fine in the incubator for several hours (they should dry off before being moved anyhow) even if you are at work, many of the hatches will happen at night while you are sleeping (unless you plan on not sleeping)

The babies will be fine if you are at work. You'll have plenty to see when you get home from work. I don't think you HAVE to take time off work. They really don't need any intervention in order to hatch anyway.

Yes they do take hours...my first silkie just hatched...it took almost 24 hrs from pip to hatch...it was a little bit of a let down to get home today and see my silkie already out and starting to get fluffy...although relieved she was out and healthy...so if I could I would be home for the entire hatch...just keep your hands off the bator....

I guess I'm just worries if something DOES happen. I want to be able to help if needed but like you say, no tampering and work would save me from that. I think I'll just run and do appointments only and then go home. I'll take hatch day off and the next and then wait and see after that. It's been so slow recently I don't think I'll be missing anything. With my luck they will hatch a day early lol!
