Can anybody help me with breed information? Chickens were give to me. The hen in bottom picture just started laying a creme colored egg. I am guessing the 3 smaller chickens are 1 hen and 2 roosters. Thanks for help
They look like brown Leghorn or brown Leghorn crosses. The two in the back of the first pic based on coloration and comb size/color are definitely cockerels. I'm not seeing the white ear lobes of a Leghorn though. They could be Welsummer or Welsummer crosses too. Leghorns should lay white eggs and Welsummers should lay dark brown eggs.
if the back ones are welsummers then they are def a cross not pure welsummer;... I dont know much about a bunch of different kinds of chickens but I do welsummers. I love them and have a bunch...lol
Thanks ever body for the free information. The people that gave them to my wife said they were gamecocks but I didn't think so. After listening and looking online I believe I have brown leghorns. I am getting almost a egg a day from the one hen. She just started laying 1 week after we got them. Can't wait until the other hen gets old enough to lay also. Is it possible to keep both of the roosters I know they are young now but what happens when they get older and I only have 2 hens? Also I am thinking of getting a few more next year and was thinking of welsummers. Would they get along with the brown leghorns? We are new to keeping chickens and appreciate the help. Thanks for all the help and information.
The eggs are white in my opinion just compared them to some eggs I had and they are definitely not brown. Makes me think brown leghorn. She is laying about an egg a day. Amazing to me. I believe she is young but I don't know how to tell. Thanks
