This is Sergeant Pepper (Sarge for short). I knew this litte guy was a boy the moment he hatched. He was born with a comb. He went in the brooder (an aquarium at the time) and would march back and forth in front of us when we walked by. Anyway, Sarge came from eggs we got from our Farm Fair this past July. We knew he was a mixed breed. We were given 3 eggs from a Millie Fleur D'uccles cage (had 3 girls in it), so figured we at least knew who the moms were. No clue about the dads. Could have been several different kinds of roosters. The 2 that hatched looked like d'uccles with the feathered legs, but no white anywhere. Then this guy came out looking nothing like a d'uccle at all. I'm thinking he's some kind of game bantam. Any thoughts?
BTW: we heard him crowing for the 1st time today.

Maybe americana-chick's roo, but not my little guy. He's the smallest chicken we have. Much smaller than our OEGB. And he is mostly black as seen in the pic posted at start of thread.

I see the birchen coming in on your little roo too. I had come Jap cross babies, and all the boys started out black and gradually got more birchen. They ended up quite pretty.

Ok, I think I can see the birchen. But I'm pretty sure he's not a large OEG. I guess it will be interesting see how he turns out.
