Trying to figure out what's right for our soon to be homestead.

we were thinking about buff orpingtons for our new homestead. but than i came across some lavender orpingtons!I should be moved out there pretty soon. i have to make up my mind soon. i might have trouble eating the little beauties .

Is it too late to suggest barred rock? :) On the lavender orpingtons, I don't know much about that breed, but I have read about many lavenders being a color that does not breed true in some breeds. I'm sure someone on BYC will know. Good luck and God Bless!

Well, there is good news :D and not so good news :/ .
Good news is: we are going to be getting 10 acres, at $10/acre  .
The not so good news is: This project seems to be on hold for the time being :( .
We'll see what happens.
Wish me Luck!!

wow i though i got a deal on my land. its inexpensive but does it have what you need to homestead?

Well, he has several areas he thinks we will like. He wants us to check them out and decide what will best suit our needs. There are a few lakes on his property & we will have access to them along with the water and fish therein.

yeah its unheard of at 10 an acre . but if you know the right people. mine was 920 ish an acre for 14.7. and i thought that was an amazing deal

DH is good friends with the man who is selling to us, as well as the fact that we will be helping each other out in doing this.
Sorry that I haven't been back for a few days. Whole family got sick, then I finally crashed myself. Feeling a bit better right now, but my schedule is a bit out of wack.
Just got finished reading Beekissed homemade broody thread from the beginning to end and now I'm going to go pass back out.

Found a breeder in TX about an hours travel from where we are going to move.
a couple of the pics he sent me. The first 2 are of his 6 Mo babies (as he calls them) and 3rd is an example of eggs his current 6 mo girls are producing.
