Originally we were looking at this from my pet chicken

Its the garden coop/
But it says that it would cost between $500 and $600 and that just isn't in the budget right now.

Then I found this website

Has anyone ever used this website? Is it reliable and do they actually have some good plans? We need a home for 6 hens and a rooster. Right now the Rooster and a hen are free ranging but we don't want to continue with them free ranging because they have been getting out of the fence and wondering the neighbors yards (we lost one of our hens this week- no sign of feathers or anything).

I suspect you could build the garden coop for less if you take some time and look for some deals on lumber. One of your issues is going to be the fact that you need to build a coop large enough for the number of hens you'll be housing. When I started to build my coop I was constantly thinking of ways I could cut corners to make it cheaper but I eventually realized that I had to build something that would last and would be functional. If you build too cheap now, and cut corners on design, you may end up regretting it. The guy who designed the garden coop lives only a few miles from me and I saw this coop on a coop tour. It is really a great coop and the plans are very easy to follow. I have more pics of it as well as the garden ark. If you're interested just email me and I'll send some to you.
