Trying to find first time chicks or pullets!! What is a hardy, easy, friendly breed for Louisiana? looking into RIR, but TSC only has Production blue?

I don’t recommend RIR unless you find heritage birds from a private breeder. They are nasty when you buy from hatcheries.
Production blues(saphire gems, blue Plymouth rocks) are great friendly birds! is that the only breed your tsc has?

The only one they could name. I don’t want to panic with the low availability and get a breed we won’t like, especially since these will be our first. You like the production blue?

I love my Easter Eggers. They're calm, mellow, lay greenish/bluish eggs and pretty productive and tolerate both heat and cold very well. They don't get as much respect as other breeds because they are a "mutt" breed, but they're solid and dependable, easy keepers, good foragers, and in my opinion, a good choice for the beginning back yard keeper.
