Trying to Get started

Hello all I am very new to this I have only raised one chicken before and that was when my family and I lived in Haiti while on missions. I am wanting to get some soon and am looking into Black Star Hens.

I can't give you any information/advise on Black Stars, but I can say

I am looking at getting a coop and some egg laying Black star Hens but they are wanting $15 each for the hens. That sounds really high to me. What do you think?

Yeah, that does seem kinda high...at least for around here. Started hens go for around $10, a bit more if they are a trio or a less common breed
