I have 11 week old Isa browns and totally in love with them! I recently lost one with an impacted crop :( After that I switched from wheat straw to pine shavings in their coop and cleaned the run thoroughly. I have another sweetie "Midnight" that I feel is getting an impacted crop too. I now know it's something I'm doing wrong!!! I read where mealworms are bad is that the issue?? It's really the only treat they've had in 2 weeks!! But is that too much protein am I hurting them??? HELP I'm frustrated reading a million different things, I just want to fix what I'm doing wrong and help with "Midnight" toward recovery!! I'm stopping with the mealworms will she get better if I'm feeding her olive oil bread???

Glad you joined the flock! Here is a very good article on crop issues:

If you have more questions or need clarification please start a thread in the Emergencies section and tag @TwoCrows who wrote the article, she'd be happy to help you. Best of luck!

I believe Midnight is getting better her crop feels like a sand bag full of sand and grit hopefully it's grinding everything up and her poos are looking normal !!
